Its beginning to look a lot like winter!

Its been over 2 years since the October storm of 2006. Heavy snow brought down thousands of trees, some had been standing for over 100 years. Powerlines were down, and Western New York was brought to a standstill. Schools were closed for about a week, businesses were closed, some were running on generators, grocery stores ran out of food. This picture is of a buffalo carved out of an old oak tree that had been brought down by the storm. It stands at Erie Basin Marine on Lake Erie, along with statues of a few notable Buffalonians, including one of Tim Russert.
The weather is changing here. Nites are getting colder. Days are getting shorter. BBBBRRRR. We've stocked up on firewood, but I'm afraid to start a fire in the fireplace, its way too early. My furnace has turned on twice already. If it's this cold, this early in the season, its going to be a loooonnnng winter. Time to bundle up and start packing on my winter weight.. oh wait,, I still have last winters winter weight!
